My only child isn’t bored at all. She has cleaned her room, made breakfast for everyone, played in the snow, watched TV, read, played piano, practiced her multiplication and division, etc. She cannot watch TV until piano and math are done and we limit TV to 2 hrs.

And this is where those of us who are Gen X really did shine when we were elementary school aged. We could be bored out of our minds but yet we'd eventually figure out something to do. And we'd do it without our parents being involved because our parents were busy living their lives. We learned to fend for ourselves and figure things out. Lessons that serve a kid well throughout their life.

That poster does sound unhinged, don't they? I guess, though, they could be right ... the parents of the region just might have ganged up on her/him to have schools closed for the week just so their kid could not go. Possible, I suppose. If I too were so inner focused thinking that everything was being done to just me than I just might come up with the same conclusion.
