Serve them their food on dirty plates, flatware, and drink are but make sure you have clean plates, etc. Or, you could do what I once did when I came home from a week business trip and a weeks worth of dirty dishes, pots and pans were piled up in sink and overflowing on to counter tops. I grabbed large plastic garbage bags and started throwing everything in them. DH was flabbergasted and was screaming that I couldn't throw them away just because they were dirty. At that point, I told him that they had one hour to clean the kitchen or I was throwing every dirty eating and cooking utensil out and that I would pound them with a baseball bat.
I never came home to a dirty kitchen again.

This is a board for parents. No one cares about your dog. Stfu.

It’s not one or the other, both are extremes.
OP I know it’s a first world problem but I’ve noticed an uptick on the dishes too. I get it.
The worst for me though is the snow boots/cold weather gear all over the place. Yes it all has a home. But it’s being used frequently so not getting out away. I’m guilty too. We have 2 dogs so I’m out with them 2-3x a day.

We know who has the nasty house

Dishes, yet but we missed a trash pickup and our family creates absurd amounts of garbage! Three teens. So much garbage piled up in our garage and the trash truck will only take garbage in our one bin.

I was just responding to the title. I agree with you, but the snowstorm has shed some light on the fact that there are people who obviously can’t stand their own kids.

Do you remember that scene in the movie The Sixth Sense when the mother of the boy walks into the kitchen and sees all of the cabinets and drawers wide open? Yeah, that's my life with my teen son. It could be a lot worse. He does clean up after himself but he just forgets to close the cabinets and drawers. Lol.

+1. We started doing this during Covid and still do it with some regularity. Especially for pizza night, takeout sandwiches, or weekend lunches. I should have done it this week - we've been going through a lot of dishes between all of the meals at home and the cooking/baking projects.
