At my son's preschool, there were April and May kids held back for Trinity!

Were the April/May kids that were held back unconnected (held back in hopes of getting into Trinity) or were they connected Trinity legacies/siblings? Boys or girls?

My daughter is a late August bday and we applied last year to get a feel, and with the first round of feedback we got “too young.” So we pulled our applications (although one second tier school seemed interested/ didn’t say she was too young). We reapplied this year with some changes in schools and additions.

With July bday it’s a hit or miss. We do know a July bday sibling that was asked to wait another year for a TT girls school. So I see many TT schools asking July and August bdays to wait. June really depends if it’s early or late June. May 31st should be able to apply and get in to a school.

Dalton has recently changed their website to read: “Dalton adheres strictly to a May 31 deadline for children with summer birthdays.” So if Dalton is on friend’s (boy) list, she’d have to apply this fall. I know Horace Mann and Collegiate also take young summer birthdays. Overall I’d say the May 31st is cuspiest of the cusp but should likely apply to all the schools in the fall.

Early July girl, I’d likely do a few schools to get a feel for them but prepare for a full application cycle the following fall.

My June and July kids all went as old summer birthdays at a TT school known to swing old.

This is so interesting as I have a June kid with an application in at Dalton. Our kid is tall, rather advanced and looks and acts older. They said nothing to us about a May 31st cut off.

Ours is a late june birthday at dalton now. Didn’t know there was a cutoff…

One has a daughter born early July. The other has a son born May 31st. They are both considering single sex and coed UES/UWS/Hill schools. Anyone have any first hand experience on what to do with these cusp-y birthdays?

Late June birthday, second youngest in the grade at a TT private. The youngest is only two days later. It’s totally fine so far.
