Last year we had like 3 2 hour delays in a row because of cold temps.

After last year's mess, they're going to avoid it as much as they can. I don't think Taylor realized that schools don't really operate until he saw what teachers did last summer.

Not a vacation when you’re home with kids and working. MCPS does not care if it extends the school year.

We don't have the days in the calendar. You're not getting that long of a vacation.

I saw that as well. Only in the 20's each day.

I check it out of habit for the daily weather and curiosity makes me look ahead when it shows the snow icon. I am not doing it out of panic

One of my weather apps says 19-23 inches and my other weather app says 12-18 combined total for next weekend. And we will not go above 32 degrees until an entire week later on 2/2. Of course this could change but if it actually snows this much we are definitely not going to school on Tuesday. My street doesn’t even get plowed for days during the biggest storms.

The weather app on my phone shows 3-4 inches for Saturday and 18-22 for Sunday.

I have no idea what we'll actually get but think it will be significant enough that school will definitely be closed on Tuesday. And possibly beyond.

I would advise you to read a few posts up

You must be new here. There are people who want delays anytime the morning temperature is below 32F.

Real meteorologists will give you the latest/best info especially now that they have their own social pages these days. Every single one would say DO NOT look at random app snowfall prediction that far out (including their own models which the apps are based off of).

They have to feed their snow anxiety!

Also, as of Monday afternoon models are feeling out a possible ~10 inches of snow for Saturday and Sunday.

Buy winter jackets. You can probably get them at a thrift shop for $10-20.

Have you been to a thrift store recently? Anything warm enough for 9 deg will either be UN-gently used or $40. Influencers have ruined them for low income people.

Not kids jackets.

Yes, kids’ jackets. I buy jackets and coats for my students. Everything at four unique thrift locations in the area was thin, battered to hell, or over $40. I have better luck with the Macy’s sale.

OK. So go to Macy's then. Or Kohls. Or Walmart. The point is that coats can be found for reasonable prices. Not that kids will wear them. Mine claim hoodies are warmer than coats, so they live with the natural consequences of their decision. School should be open tomorrow.
