Dr. Bitar in Fairfax- I’ve gotten facial balancing with him for a weak jawline and flat cheeks and love my results . I felt more comfortable going to a plastic surgeon for these areas.

Will definitely check out the nurse injectors recommendations above for Botox/ lip filler though.

Erika overfilled my face and kept trying to convince me to get more filler. Ended up having all of it dissolved

Where did you end up getting it dissolved? I’m going through the same thing with her. I feel like I am starting to look puffy and more filler is not the answer

I truly don't want to sound rude, but a question for you and PP-

How were you honestly able to trust a woman who goes by the name "Injector Bunny" to not overfill your face? One look at the website/her photo/staff photo would tell you this is place with an OTT, artificial aesthetic. Like, did you go in expecting a natural looking result or did you go in trying to look "done" and then felt you over did it?

Not rude at all! I followed her from her previous MedSpa in Georgetown. I felt the vibes and aesthetic were different.. I first started seeing her in 2017 but took a 5 year break to have kids. When I went back, I just went back to her because of the prior relationship. Looking back it was a mistake!

My cosmetic derm explained this quite well. All of these medspas are basically nurses with a microneedling pen, a closet full of filler, and a fridge full of toxin. So to pay themselves, their staff, and their rent they are going to put as much of the filler and toxin in your face as they can. My cosmetic derm says that less than 10% of his revenue comes from injectables, and 90% comes from all the laser and other stuff he offers, so he is under no pressure to put more filler or toxin in someones face than they need.

ok but also sounds like the answer you'd expect from someone who doesn't do much injectables

He does a ton of injectables...among everything else he does. He just doesn't overdo injectables like all these instagram loving nurse 'injectors'

I go to Sheila at Erika’s practice, and Sheila is much more conservative.

I'd love to know more about who these injectors are and what they do that defines their 'look'.

Like, is there an injector who is crazy about temple filler or master Botox or something and recommends it to all their clients even if they don't 'need' it? Is it just an injector with a heavy hand whose clients look frozen?

A chunk of my friend group goes to the same dermatologist in McLean. They all start to look the same. It’s a pretty overdone look, but they all rave about this Dr

why hide the name of the derm?

I'd love to know who to go to and who to avoid too

I know Breanna at Ella Esthetics is really popular. She’s an NP. I find her to be very conservative in her approach, which I like.

Thanks for your answer. Makes sense to me! Do you mind saying which MedSpa in Georgetown you went to initially?

I go to Dr. Brittany Smirnov at Fuchs Dermatology in Falls Church. Very light touch, really good with first time Botoxers.

I used to to think this but I'm friends with several surgeons and they all say forget the MDs for botox and filler, go to the PAs who are doing it all day. The actual doctors are by and large not doing continuing education or much volume in this space at all so it's kind of like thinking you'll get the best ear piercing from your GP. Can they do it? Yeah. Is it the gold standard? Not really.

I've heard the same re botox.
