Yes, I believe so. But chat with the MySchoolDC staff. I asked them a ridiculous amount of questions last year and they were incredibly helpful. Whoever staffs that office has done a great job selecting folks that will help you untangle all of this; I think I had one person that was 'meh' but the others I spoke with were excellent both on the live chat and on the phone.

its important to rank your personal number 1 as number 1. i think schools do get a total count of how many students listed them as 1 use that for planning purposes.

For those that say to call the myschooldc number, I don't recommend it. My experience asking about the selective schools process was that they told me Banneker had in-boundary students and even after being corrected on that, still told me my child could be bumped by those with sibling preference (also not true). They may be great for the regular lottery, but I didn't find them informed about selective schools.

Yeah, that was a really uncalled for comment. I get what the person was going for but there are really only three things that need to be said here:

1. Rank schools in the order of your true preference

2. Schools never see how you personally ranked them

3. If you have questions or concerns, call MySchool

I wish they did. My kid is applying to Duke as his #1 and I think it is relevant to how Duke should assess him. It’s not his backup in case he doesn’t get into Walls.

For Duke, I actually think you will have time to let them know and see this during the audition/interview stage!
