I would do a trip with your husband or a few friends. Where have you not been that you would be interested in going?

I've also been to a few small birthday dinner parties. Get a chef to come to your house.

Parties are great, but I always feel like when I host I'm trying to make sure everyone else is having a great time and I don't get to enjoy it.

OP here — not that I need to clarify buuut….on a couple points, I will

Not sure where anyone saw that we have a SN child. We do not 🤦🏻‍♀️

We have a will, and plenty saved for college and retirement, but can’t we always save more?? That was my point. And that I don’t want to go blowing $10K on a party or a trip.

How old I was when I gave birth is none of your freaking business.

Thx to all who gave helpful comments.

Portugal for a week in the spring is only 3K including airfare.

Strippers in Switzerland — without a doubt 👍

So did you decide on Switzerland, strippers, or something else?

You think you have the money to plan these things to fête yourself, but you kind of just said you actually don’t.

When did you even give birth, in your mid-40s?

For someone who is basically considering planning a small wedding for your birthday at your age, shouldn’t you already have healthy 529s for your children in the background?

If you are still “saving for college and retirement” then you don’t actually have the money you want to say you do for stupid stuff like “yay me” parties.

I would have to agree with this, OP! Have you even done any end-of-life, getting your affairs in order planning? It's not cheap but if you have a special needs son you absolutely need to get this done and have plans for his care. Maybe that should be a gift you give him for your 60th birthday?

Woo woo! So exciting! #sarcasm

Most 60 year olds have better things to do than walk up an f’ing hill.

My 60th was a month into the COVID lockdown and was on Zoom.

This year for my 65th I had a small restaurant party on my bday and took DD to Portugal a few month after.
