It works great if people decide on the roles and then follow through and you find a partner that's ok with it. I see the issue sometime is that people are dishonest or lazy, they want independence and opinions of feminism or being liberal for guys but don't want to financially support or pay for dates or anything like that. Just chose a role and pick good and bad of that. No need to mix and then cherry pick things from both side and staying resentful.

Not true at all. We have “traditional gender roles” and when dating there were not any type of expectations. He stepped into his roles, I stepped into mine. He is an adult, if I didn’t cook he would make food or get something.I

I am ok with anything on first date if we click. I am in 40s and have slept with men on first date.

Drinks, jazz club, sporting events, dinners, hiking

My first dates were really screening dates which I kept short and cheap intentionally, so I could get out of them without guilt if necessary. I also did not go out of my way to make time for them so I didn’t waste my time. Only coffee dates before work or a cocktail after work. Yes, they were kind of a test to see who would make the effort and pay.

After that, a dinner and a walk. I live in an area that doesn’t have a lot going on, but I am active and care about my health. This was also a screener.

First a meet and greet.

Then a first date that gives you time to talk and then regular dates that can be more interesting and can be equally planned and paid for.
