North Carolina State University major in Textiles. The department is fabulous and they are great at career development. Many in the fashion industry get a Masters there as well.

Another route is to do supply chain as a major and then move into merchandising, planning or forecasting for a clothing company.

One of mine did that they have a great career and have worked for companies like VF (which owns The NorthFace, Wrangler and others etc), they have also worked for clothing startups as well and snowboard clothing companies like Burton.

Also DS is so far set on fashion design specifically (he may pivot once he is more grounded in reality)

LA Trade Tech is the best education it would be Fred in state, but living in LA is costly. He’s unlikely to become a creative director, but there are many other jobs in the industry. Most are in LA or OC some in SF. Cal Poly Pomona has merchandising. Long Beach is fashion design. Many other CC’s have fashion design, but most aren’t good. The real learning is on the job so studying near internship opportunities is essential. FIDM is leads to debt and is not better with placement. LATT has great outcomes.

LATT is probably private which will screw us because of CSS. CSULB sounds like the best option so far! -OP

Cal State Sacramento has Fashion Merchandising and Management, UC Davis has a Design BA that can have a fashion emphasis.
