Sounds like you went to Montgomery Mall. It’s a good time! We rarely buy much of anything, but keep in mind for next time that she can build up to 3 Lego minifigures with accessories to take home. they have little packages for them. I think it’s $10 for all 3.
So you get a fun activity and a little souvenir.

Yeah, the people freaking out about getting sick don't seem to understand that the mall is just an alternative to other indoor activities where you could also get sick. If the weather is crap like yesterday (drizzly and wet), you can't take kids to the playground or out on bikes or hiking or anything. Your options are limited: library, museum, indoor play place. The point is that if your kids are bored with those options, the mall might also work. But all those options are about the same in terms of germ risk.
Maybe some of you just always keep your kids home when the whether is bad. Maybe your kids are fine with that, or maybe you are immune to kids complaining about being bored or jumping all over the furniture and fighting with each other. The rest of us are taking our kids places and accepting it might mean they get sick, just like sending them to school or sports practice or other activities also might mean the catch something. That's life.

Do you homeschool your kids? Do they do any activities? They can just as easily get the flu at school or at sports.

Sounds like a fun day…the mall is taken for granted. I just run in to return and buy quick things…I will pay it a real visit on a rainy day soon!

I took DD and a friend to Tysons yesterday. They had a blast but it was the most crowded I’ve ever seen it. They didn’t want to go in but there was a line to get into the Lego store. Not sure if it was the rain or January Xmas returns or just a normal Saturday (we don’t go to the mall much) but it was too much for me.

Glad it’s still a good time. We used to love the Thomas the train table at Barnes&Noble and the Disney Store. Nordstrom used to give out balloons to kids. Riding the glass elevator! All good times.

My husband took my 5 year old to the mall a few weeks ago and they also had a great time! He let her pick out an outfit at old navy. They got a treat. Wandered around. Agree it’s a good low key outing. Chill everyone!

That 8 year old is just as likely to pick up germs at school as she is at the mall. Also, those of us who are teachers (me) are exposed to germs constantly and it doesn’t mean we are constantly sick.
The op had a fun day and you just rained on her parade. It’s okay to make different choices, it’s okay to take risks, it’s okay to not be perfect.
