Subject: If your college sophomore (rising junior) did not have a suminternship, what did they do for the summer before Jr. year?
Highly recommend a summer study abroad program between sophomore and junior year. My kid doesn’t want to leave campus during the school year (would miss classes, friends and social scene) so this was a perfect way to see a different part of the world.

I do not see how DC would have any success next year applying for post-junior year internships if they cannot get anything this summer.

It is much harder for sophomores.

Normal summer job -- at a summer camp, retail, ice cream shop, etc.
Take summer classes
Do summer abroad program
Learn a foreign language
Maybe volunteer somewhere on a regular schedule
This is a hard summer for internships. So one needs to be creative. And also go back to the basics of any job is an opportunity.

Didn’t have a job. Did some online classes in finance and data analytics - came from liberal arts college with no business classes. Spent a lot of time networking to find out about different kinds of jobs/industries and learned a lot about what they did and didn’t want to do. Spent the end of summer applying to jobs for the following summer and had something lined up by October of that year.
