Money makes the world go round. Make an effort to starve the fascists of funding.

If each one of us does something, it will make a difference.

The Target boycott has had a huge negative effect on the company. I have not set foot in Target for nearly a year, and I used to shop there every week.

I support Costco, which has fought back and sued the Trump administration for the costs of the tarriffs. We must support companies that refuse to capitulate.

Oh, and boycott the law firms (Paul Weiss, for starters) that capitulated. There are lots of great law firms that have not capitulated. Bring your business and your companies' business to those firms that support our democracy.

Yes, this is extremely important, especially as the Trump government is re-writing Jan. 6 and forcing museums (paid for with our tax dollars) to change their exhibits to confirm with the Trumpist view.

We must preserve the true historical record.

I just learned today that the owner of the company that makes KIND bars is a big Trump supporter.
Here are more: https://www.newsweek.com/american-businesses-supporting-donating-donald-trump-list-2027957

Boycott them all.
End your Amazon Prime subscription.
Google the businesses owned by billionaire Trump supporters and boycott all of them.

I quit Amazon months ago, and I don't miss it, not even the "free" shipping. I boycott Whole Foods too. Lots of nice smaller chains and stores sell organic foods, so I shop there.

I go to protests, but only huge ones. I don't go to the ICE protests because they scare me.

WE made these people into billionaires. Stop supporting these people who do not support our democracy.

I research down ballot candidates who support causes I believe in and send them money for their campaigns.

[BTW, I respond "STOP" to every text I receive asking me for money. It's eliminated most the annoying texts from candidates all over the country.]

I'm kind to others. I do my best to reach out to magas and gently let them know that their leader has screwed them. Some of them are starting to listen, a teensy little bit, as their paychecks don't go as far and their healthcare costs have mushroomed.

This.
And don’t forget about Target. And Disney. Hilton is probably next up.

People underestimate how much power they actually have.

Corporations care about consumer decisions.

The general strike is a good idea too. But it’s not clear that could actually be organized.

Target in particular should be at the front of mind— thats the “FO” people should be scared of.

And, use your money where you DO spend it wisely. Costco is apologetically not messing with these clowns.

No travel, unless to stay with friends/ family.

We are doing a "low spend" year this year: buying groceries, health expenses, and fixing / replacing appliances and house stuff only if it fails.

No spending for travel, no shopping online or otherwise, no new clothes, we are lucky enough to be able to try to use up everything we already have. No fast food, maybe get takeout from a local restaurant once a month. Emphasizing free activities locally.

Asking for things on our local buy nothing or neighborhood group if we do think we need something.

If the people in charge stop being able to profit from Americans they will be more open to change.

I can't do that, I am eyeing a new thing from Cartier. And already have two international travel booked. What is the point of your frugality?

I think I’m gonna start screaming at the top of my lungs when I make calls to my representatives. Not even kidding. I have an annoying, piercing voice when I yell. Might as well use it. Not sure about proactive and sensible, but it will feel great.

I'm going to ask Democrats to vote responsibly.

Get candidates with reasonable agendas.

If we get Vance after Trump this nation will not survive. I'm serious.

It's not violent, it hurts the people with the most money, you can actually use the money you are saving for mutual aid to give food and housing assistance to anyone financially hurt by the economic protests.

The best thing people can do is to get quality candidates running for office. And remove the current Democratic leadership entirely.

Keep screaming about the toxic influence of money in politics. We need higher quality people to enter the political arena and currently they have zero incentive to enter our corrupted by mega-donors political landscape when they can earn more money without being a puppet to the wealthy while working in the private sector. Money is the true evil when it comes to politics just as it is in most other walks of life.

We need to remove corruption from our major political parties so that basic function can be restored!

I know someone in another state who participates with a group called Indivisible. I believe they have been involved in organizing protests and know they stress non-violence. If you google them you can probably track down a local group.

OP. This is productive for others but I’m mixed and literally have no family or friends who vote Republican let alone Trumpism. I’m not on Facebook or anything where I can fight with my lunatic fringe family because none of them are loons.

I’ve heard more than one expert on how to confront autocracy say that the most important thing you can do is to get involved in your community and make connections with others. It doesn’t matter what color you are or what their politics may be. We just need to start interacting so that we see each other as fellow Americans with joint interests. Get to know your neighbors and coworkers. Join a club or civic organization. You don’t need to pick political fights. It helps connect with those who feel similarly, and those who need persuasion will be more open to that nice person from my group than their imagination’s idea of the opposition based on what they hear from Trump and Fox news - probably a violent, Anti-American thug with “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
