Just announced:
Blair Assistant Principal (half of 9th grade) and former English Teacher and coach, Chris Klein taking over Magnet Coordinator role "permanently" (not a temporary acting appoitment).
For both CAP and SMCS, or just SMCS?
SMCS + he is still an assistant principal.
Oh. So he just got an extra responsibility added to his already full plate. That’s not good…
STEM will be much less to coordinate than SMCS
STEM is still 1.5 years away.

He was an excellent teacher and I hope that he will continue to do a good job as magnet coordinator. Mr Ostrander was absolutely outstanding in that role so he has big shoes to fill.
While I am personally sad to see them mess with the Blair magnet program, which was so formative an experience for my kid, I am more hopeful now that they are selecting qualified people to fill these positions.
Mr. Klein is fine, he just isn't qualified to lead SMCS.

Seem like a demotion to go from AP to magnet coordinator....
They are the same position level.
By some accounting, an AP is responsible for 400 students (half a grade), and Magnet coordinator is responsible for 400 students (100/grade, 4 grades), for half the students' day. 100 of those students are in each half-grade and also in Magnet or CAP at the same time. Pretty similar load.

Did this position exist previously, does anyone know? Or is it new?
