Truthfully- this is partly why I haven’t gone back to work full time. I know some people can handle the kids activities and full time work, but I just couldn’t. So no judgment from me if you’re using fast food to get you through

Hahaha. We have to do two dinners. My third grader will eat before and then always wants another meal after practice.

I carefully arrange my week so I cook on non-practice nights a meal that has enough leftovers to feed everyone again on practice nights. It's a little tricky right now with 3 kids with full schedules, but that just means the equivalent of a "non-practice" night is just whenever I actually have some time.

Back when I was worried about one kids' practice at 6 pm I could easily do this.

But yeah, a lot of my kids' teammates do carryout fast food because when you have things like 3 kids on 4 travel teams (real scenario, but not mine) and both parents work full time, you're just making it.

We split dinner in two and make it easy. Like bowl of Cheerios before and then a yogurt, banana, apple, and cheese stick after. But my child is 6. A 10 year old can probably figure out how much to eat before and after exercise, right?

This is a ridiculous time for a practice.
Eat before. She can have a snack on way home.

When my kids were younger, they just packed two lunches. I sent one to school and stuck one on the fridge at home (if we were going there) or work. If something was better hot, I microwaved it for them before I picked up.

+1 on two smaller meals. Have something for her at 4 and then after she comes back from practice. Full dinner at 5 will be hard, but left overs or a small meal (leftovers, soup and sandwich, etc) that she could eat, would be better.

We have the same thing. We have tried it both ways. She always ends up eating 2 dinners if we do dinner before so we've landed on a big healthy snack and dinner after.

Why’s that

You go eat a big dinner and then go run on the treadmill for 1.5 hours. Check back and let us know how it went.
