I don’t really care about my vacation. I care more about our country and hopefully some of our elected leaders finally standing up to the bully.

Nobody cares about you personally as an American right now. If you met someone who is Saudi would you blame them for what MBS does? Probably not. We went outside the US this summer and everyone was very nice.

PP, here. You’re right, that personally nobody cares about me when I travel abroad. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m embarrassed and ashamed of my country. We were never perfect, but I always thought of us as one of the good guys.
.

You always thought we were one of the good guys? Were you alive during the Iraq war? I’m guessing, yes. But you’ve waited until now to be embarrassed and ashamed? Wild.

I was appalled by the Iraq war and the flimsy justifications for it. I never said the U.S. was perfect. I agree that Iraq is a big scar on our history.

This is not that people wake the hell up.

This is not any war like we have had before.

This time we are 1938 Germany and it is going to be horrifying.

What war are we talking about?

Was in Europe in the Fall. People hear you’re from DC and feel sorry for you.

Has Canada ever been hostile towards anyone?

Lol that made me chuckle

Nope it is different this time

When the hell has a President of the US ever supported Putin over the rest of the world???
When the hell has a President of the US only cared about enriching himself???

Nothing is safe anymore.

Blame MAGA they did this the stupid cult members.

It is going to get exponentially worse the closer we get to 2026

By 2028 the game is over welcome to MAGADONIA with no rights.

Meh. I feel like back then (Iraq, etc) people were critical of USA policies but not Americans. This is a whole different ballgame. And the only people who don’t think so are MAGA. Trump is going after allies. He is basically giving the middle finger to NATO. It’s so not the same. I think for now most people pity Americans but that might change once consequences of this new world order emerge in other countries.

At that time, Italy had more migrants making the Mediterranean crossing from Africa than any other European country. Migration was a hot-button issue for Italians when you were there. It may still be, but I'm not following it anymore since we have so much news to keep up with at home these days.

I personally would wait and see. It may get ugly if trump doesn’t stop threatening Europe and Russia.

We went to Canada over Christmas and it was great. I felt like I needed to apologize for being American everywhere we went, but everyone was so nice. We are thinking of going back for spring break. (We are avid skiers and Canada has the snow this year)

Extra bonus the exchange rate favors Americans. (With the way this President is f-ing the economy, who knows how long that will last.)
