I saw No Other Choice instead. I loved Uncut Gems but this looks like a dumb mess.

I like TC but this movie was a slog to get through. It was well cast, well acted and stylistically authentic. However, none of the characters are likable and the plot development was too far-fetched/ pointlessly cruel and irresponsible.

I enjoyed the scenery and wardrobes and had a couple of laughs -/ but not enough to endure all the miserable characters.

All the doors to fashion designers, media, and heavy hitters opened to Timothee in 2017, when he scored his first Oscar nomination. That was years before he started dating a Kardashian.

The Kardashians may have the best PR team in the world, but they can’t force you to leave your house and buy a ticket. If the movie really was bad and pointless, it would have died after the first week from bad word of mouth. Instead, it’s already made more domestically than DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another, and that movie is a front runner for best picture at the Oscars. Marty Supreme is receiving attention because a lot of people like it, and like Timothee’s performance in it, even if you didn’t.

You’re giving the Kardashians way more credit and power than they actually have.

I think he’s all over media and social media and essentially has been shoved down our throats and deemed as the next big thing/most talented actor because he’s dating a Kardashian.

PR is driving his rapid ascent, not looks or actual talent.

If you don’t think dating a Kardashian opens doors to fashion designers, media, and heavy hitters, then let’s agree to disagree.

I mean, like others have said, the story isn’t great. Why tell this pointless story? It’s shocking that this movie and his performance have received so much attention. But the king makers in Hollywood media are really good at their job.

Thought Timothy was great, as was his love interest, A’zion (also loved her in I Love LA), as was the Japanese competitor. Also surprisingly, Kevin O’Leary was great.

Did not care for Gwynyth and she always plays the same waspy matriarch frozen biyatch lady. Now she plays an older one.

I did hear a review that said this movie is just “a string of vines woven together” and I agree with that assessment. But it’s still pretty entertaining, and unpredictable, as with other Safdie movies

I hated Gwyneth Paltrow in this movie. When people were talking about her potential award nominations for this film I was so confused. She sucked.

+1. The internet and media can say someone is a great actor all day long, but that doesn't make people actually go and spend money on tickets. See the way movies with big stars -- Julia Roberts, George Clooney, The Rock, etc -- flopped all year long last year.

I agree with this. I thought almost all the pieces of the movie were terrific--the acting, cinematography, direction, set and costume design, the table tennis, all fantastic. The script was absolutely soulless. What was the reason for telling this story? To me it seemed like so much talent and potential, wasted.

One Battle is another prime example of Hollywood and the PR machine making fetch happen.

I thought it was great. TC put on a show.

The fact that so many DCUM 's appear to hate it make me like it even more. Not as much as One Battle, but I'll still give it an 8.5 out of 10.

My teen went with friends and liked it which makes me think I probably won’t haha
