Yeah, the OP needs to change the venue. One of the reasons I won't visit King Spa is the nudity. I'm cool with changing naked in a male locker room, but I believe there is public nudity required at some point. Just rather not. The birthday girl told the OP she is uncomfortable. end of story.

There is the locker room nudity and that is it, if you don't want to go into the single-sex bade pool area. No "public nudity required," and you won't even miss the soaking at King Spa because there is a big heated co-ed pool with hot tubs that you wear your bathing suit in.

OP, I don't think this is the best option for your group. But I do think you are getting a lot of advice on this thread from people who have never been.

What on earth are you talking about? I go all the time, and not only have I never had anyone watch me shower, I have never "put on a robe." They have uniforms of shorts and tshirts.

I can't speak to men. For women, I was surprised how close they came to my crotch. It didn't feel sexual at all, but it was pretty uncomfortable for me because I'm a bit modest, I suppose.


Were they suggesting they'd be willing to get closer?


Goodness no. You are in an area with a bunch of people all getting scrubs. It is nothing like that at all.

Yes, I mentioned the showers. That is the case at any spa. But if you want to use ANY pool or jacuzzi, are you REQUIRED to be nude at Balian? NO. At King Spa, the ONLY indoor jacuzzis and steam rooms are located in the nude area. At King Spa, the only place you can be in a jacuzzi and in a swimsuit is outdoors.


Ok. Well, if you are that scared of being naked, then no, King Spa is not for you. FWIW there actually is a steam room that you can wear your bathing suit in on the 2nd floor of King Spa. You can also rent a robe at King Spa and could probably wear in in the single-sex steam room.

I actually like King Spa a lot better. Sitting around in a wet bathing suit is not healthy or comfortable… and the facilities seemed less sanitary since they don’t enforce wearing the clean cotton suits and people sit in the saunas without having bathed first. King Spa has much better food too.

The balian nude area is optional - and I have never really seen anyone else in it. Of the two balian springs is much nicer - and you don’t have to change between your uniform and swim suit to transition between the spas and saunas (bc you just wear your suit at balian). Balian also gives you a nice robe, slippers, and a full size towel - king gives you like a hand towel. If you want a spa experience I’d totally recommend Balian. It’s also less crowded, and has lounging areas to relax.

No, you are supposed to shower nude, then soak nude, then put on the cotton shorts and shirt (not a robe) then use the co-ed saunas. This sequence keeps everything hygienic. But from my observation a lot of people do not follow this sequence and I never saw them enforce it. You do have to be nude in the shower/hot bath area, and you do have to wear the cotton suit in the common areas.
