Really disappointing read. I wonder if anyone in the know can chime in on the situation at Georgetown. Are students that unhappy? I know my kid likes the idea of school spirit. They may have to consider other options, including BC and ND. Unfortunately ND was a deferral. Won't know about BC until the spring either.
And to the HC poster, yes they applied. They made it super easy with a fee waiver and no supplemental essay.

Somehow I didn't read it this way. From the article - seems to me sports is just not their top priority.
Students are politically engaged, socially conscious, and care deeply about the world around them. They show up, but not for Georgetown athletics.
They happy and care for the world a different way. If your kid is really big into sports, GU may not be the place. Their basketball is getting better but football games on campus almost always look empty. I think students want their teams to be good first then cheer them forward .. lol.

Back in the late neolithic age, when I was at UVa, most students cared very deeply about Lacrosse.
We attended some football and basketball games, and we had fun, but in that era UVa routinely lost most of its football or basketball games.

Anonymous wrote:Yeah my DS says the vibe is very self-absorbed and competitive and students don't seem to have the time for school spirit or attending games.
Anonymous wrote:You should definitely make sure your kids don’t apply there. Especially for fall 2027. I hear school spirit will be especially low then.
Anonymous wrote:Georgetown will never be confused with ND. ND endowment $20 billion, Georgetown approaching $4 billion. Maybe school spirit pays dividends.
