Troll grade C-.

Yes. The real problem is someone promising to bring prime rib and then swapping out for a cheap ham. Which was probably mis-delivered to her house.

What an opportunist! I hope they at least posted on next door about it.

I'm not sure if this is a troll or not, but this seems so ridiculous. My family doesn't care about this sort of thing, as long as the food is good.

A LOT of people care about this sort of thing, and a LOT of guests would comment on this (both at the dinner, or in the car on the way home).

No.

Not in real life

Mushrooms go with everything.

I kinda agree with this.

Every year, there are people who are struggling to adford 1-2 special holiday dishes, not to mention actual famine.

It seems a bit much to create family drama over what is by any objective observation a very nice and sumptuous holiday feast.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, I should have listed the sides!
- Creamed spinach
- Mashed potatoes
- Roasted carrots (I think OK w ham)
- Roasted green beans (I think OK w ham)
- Burgundy mushrooms (I think NOT OK w ham)
- Rolls (parkerhouse style)

I think I would have done scalloped instead of mashed potatoes and probably something other than creamed spinach. The mushrooms w the ham just does not sound right, though. Which is what I was most looking forward to :)

All of those work with ham.

Are you entertaining your boss too? Or just family?

It sounds like a lovely, cohesive family dinner.

Scalloped potatoes are soooo popular BUT would be too rich aka fatty with ham. Mashed is much better.
Everything is fine.
As for the mushrooms. Make them and either serve and enjoy or hold and serve another night to your nuclear family with some beef.

All these go great with ham including mashed potatoes and spinach and burgundy mushrooms. Keep as is.

This is an absurd thing to be concerned about.

Children are not getting vaccinated and are not being fed and you came here to talk about a ham?

Shame on you. Really you are ridiculous.

So that’s what you want to discuss on the food and cooking forum? If so, start your own thread about it.

I would serve prime rib alongside the ham, but I like prime rib better

I’d happily eat Burgundy mushrooms and I don’t care what “goes.”

instead of burgundy mushrooms, do mushrooms with shallots and sherry
basically you need a recipe with a white instead of a red

everything else is fine
