Funny--we know someone from two years ago who applied ED 1 to Middlebury and was rejected (not even deferred), then accepted ED 2 at Bowdoin. You never know.

It’s going to be a tough admit. But DC has decided to ED2 Bowdoin. If he got in, we celebrate it. If not, there will be no regrets.
He has a T50 with merit acceptance, he would be happy to attend if there is nothing else.
Good luck!

ED1 a T10 per counselor recommendation, deferred. Suspect not a perfect fit with T10.
Bowdoin is DC's first choice school. Okay with no ED2 school if no advantage at Bowdoin.
Don’t know what top 10 means, but WASP-B is as competitive ED as the non-HYP ivies…always go down a notch for ED2, and Bowdoin is not down a notch…
We are worried about that too. Counselor postmortem thinks it's a fit problem with the ED1. Thinks Bowdoin is a better fit with DC's ECs and character.
Counselor is an idiot. Go down a notch for ED2. Lots of great SLACs with a real ED2 advantage - Midd, Grinnell etc.
don't game it again, it didn't work the first time. ED2 to clear favorite if there is one or don't do one.

JHU. He thought DC's super high score and rigor would be more helpful at JHU than Bowdoin. It's only “strategic” from the school's perspective.
