Yea it is. If the sex scenes were hetero you'd say it was porn. They're over the top and unnecessary.

I'd say they're incessant, which makes the story boring to me. If there is a story beyond the standard "in the closet" narrative.

I’m on the second episode and it’s just flashing forward to various scenes together. Does it get deeper (no pun intended) at any point? So far I feel like it’s just the love scenes. Literally nothing that that plus his tiger mom had happened. I understand there are only 6 or 7 episodes - how can they afford to waste an entire one on nothing?

Yes, eps 3-6 are stunning. Keep going.

100% worth it. It's very different imo, much, much lighter and just a romantic show with lots of sex.

Conor also said the Russian-speaking extras who were cast as his friends in the TV watching scene assumed he spoke Russian. All the heard was the dialogue between him and Sveltana when he's packing (just before "I'm coming to the cottage.")

Did you all see Jacob Tierney talk about the tunnel scene filming? When he asked the speech/dialect coach what he could use, she said "all of it, I am humbled."

I think Connor is bilingual already (went to school in France for a time) and he clearly has a talent for languages and accents!

Yes, all of this. The acting is quite good, especially the actor who plays Ilya. I was very surprised that he isn't Russian or Russian speaking. A lot of the show is also beautifully shot and has really good music. I was not expecting to like it so much.

Yes, Connor Storrie (Ilya) is great! And I totally agree that the way they shot it and the music that they chose is perfect. I watch almost no TV, and have rewatched this show.

There is a lot of sex at first and less later. If you like light romance type stuff then I'd stick with it for sure. It's a happy and hopeful show.

I can’t wait for season 2. I agree the guy playing Ilya is really good.

I just had to look this up because I did not believe you. That is just insane to me because he feels and looks so Russian in addition to the language. Give the guy an Emmy!

This show has such a chokehold on me at the moment. Can’t remember the last time I saw through more than one viewing of a show. Not to mention Connor’s Like a Prayer video and all their other PR.

9:30 Club is hosting 2 nights of a HR dance party and they sold out immediately. If I wasn’t an old lady, I would be all over that. Love that kind of cheesy fun.

Signed open minded cis

HBO/Max in the US. (See the title of the thread?)

The show was created by Crave, which is a Canadian streaming service. It'll be released on a UK streaming service sometime soon (maybe this week?).
