I like that my home is clean, neat + very organized.
This was impossible when my children lived at home but now that they are grown adults and live out of the home I fortunately can now live the way I like to live.

What I wish I could change would be I do have a spare bedroom that I use for storage.
I wish to clean it out & make it a pretty guest room or office but there is so much junk in there that I do not have any idea where I can put it all!

It has everything I need except a linen closet and a fireplace. If I had to choose one of the above, I'd choose a wood fireplace.

Minor annoyance- We have three light switches in various rooms that don’t seem to control anything. Would love an answer to those riddles!

Since you have a mudroom, I'm guessing your house isn't *that* old. Maybe 20-25 years? If so, the light switches could be on/off switches intended for lamps within that room, plugged into the right side of an outlet where you put a side table or something. If the lamps are switched "on" the light switch will control the lamp when you walk in the room... We have these in a few rooms in our 2005 house.

Love everything about my house, a charming 1920s bungalow ..
Hate that I'm in Chicago. Hideous view of hundreds of houses. I'd love to move my house to a lake somewhere

Not much. It’s a zero character 90s home with an HOA.

I love our house. Great location, great neighborhood and neighbors (nice blend of giving you privacy but being available and friendly when you want), great floor plan. It would be considered a cookie cutter house from the late 80s but they nailed it, for us.

If I had to nit pick, a larger mudroom would be helpful. Ours fits W/D and sink but little room for much else.

I love our neighborhood, semi-rural location, and school district. Also love the generous size and floor plan of our home.

Don't love: cookie cutter early 2000s mcmansion neighborhood, still pouring money into changing dated fixtures, old appliances, orange-toned hardwood floors, old carpets and bathrooms, etc. Not to mention replacing aging HVAC, new roof, new deck. I sometimes regret we didn't spend more up front for something newer and turnkey.

Love the location. It's small and run down but I like SFH living. The lots on our street are 1/6 acre and we have lots of neighbors.

Still holding the line on re-doing our 1951 kitchen. Spouse has been pushing for more than a decade but it's not like we have $30k ($50k?) sitting around. Hate not having the money to make things nice.

I love our small, semi-detached DC row house. We have an end unit, with a lot of light, and 100 year old house charm. Love the location, neighborhood, community and schools. Do not love sharing a wall with our neighbor or having one shared bath upstairs.

Downside: It smells "lived in". Not a bad smell... it's the smell if a lot of normal sized, middle class family homes. Hopefully y'all know what I'm talking about.

Open your windows on the next warm-ish day.

I hate that we have a tiny laundry room/mudroom with a coat closet that has folding doors. I would like to demolish the closet and put in nice built ins like so.

I like that the leasing agent made a mistake and our rent is $400 lower than it was supposed to be. It's a nice place in a good neighborhood.

Location of the lot. It’s in the middle of the short street so less exposed than the corner lots.

Hardwood floors real ones really thick that would be exorbitant today.

The layout is perfect. Balcony up above vaulted ceilings. Plenty of space but not too big.

The kitchen and a couple bathrooms will need an upgrade this decade but I’m not in a rush.
