Congrats! Btw, Swarthmore said at recent info session that they aren’t looking for people to take all the APs, kind of encouraging applicants not to feel pressured to take so many. I personally think 9 is a good and healthy number for a DMV public where you can spread them out over 3-4 years. I think they cited the study that showed after 5 APs, there’s no real difference in preparation. So I took it mean that they’re aren’t encouraging or rewarding applicants who are taking like a dozen or more APs.

Only 55% of attendees submit test scores during admissions. I’m surprised because Swarthmore seems like it would be on the higher side compared to other LACs.

People stopped submitting test scores to the lacs because the test scores have pushed sky high. What used to be 50th percentile is now 25th

DC is from feeder school (if that even exists - meaning 1-2 kids from school go to Swarthmore every year, Swarthmorecomes to school ecery year, classes are rigorous). Legacy. 4.3 egpa, 10 APs, 1480 SAT (not submitted, went test optional). Varsity athlete but not doing college sports. Extensive ec's with leadership (debate, robotics) and extensive volunteer hours. Can anyone else share stats for ED 1 application? Good luck to all!


Also legacy applicant here -- did you receive letter from admissions acknowledging your legacy status application not guaranteeing admission?

Apparently those letters went out to other legacy families in previous years.

Yes - legacy applicant parent here. Did you not receive it? Assume it’s a form letter. DC’s EC’s were confirmed by the College this week so we’re a little excited!

An external organization where DC volunteers got a call from Swat confirming their work there - I know, strange!


That's impressive that they verify. I thought universities just accept whatever students write in their app about their ECs.


Following up - my kid is the one whose ECs were verified and they were accepted

It's because the averages are so high. I think the lower 25th quartile average was 1500. Middle 50% of submissions were somewhere in mid 1500's. So you don't submit unless you have 1550 or above.
