The first time I met my boyfriend‘s kids, it was at a family barbecue with lots of people around. So they got to meet me, but they did not have to interact directly with me that much unless they chose to do so I think that was easier than a sitdown dinner. I think the first time I had dinner with them with just their dad was months later and it felt like an awkward big deal.

If you’re under 45, don’t date them with kids. If you’re over 45, I’d still be leery, but it’s more understandable since you’re dating Paul is more limited.

I am in a relationship with someone with kids and if we break up, I’m only going to date men who either don’t have kids or have kids that are over 25 and fully launched

If you don’t say no, I’m waiting until these children ask to meet me (which may be never), then you are the problem.

A lot of people are being overly dramatic. Let your boyfriend do most of the talking. Be prepared for the kids to be reserved with you. Just remain polite and friendly.

Go to Build A Bear or a pottery painting place. Or something that is interactive. Give the girls a chance to just be doing something other than feeling uncomfortable in front of you.

Could you do something else? Something they enjoy that is more interactive...ice skating? Bowling? Rock climbing?

No tips.

I don’t see the point at 9 mos in and divorce was when??

Same. Seems way too soon. But then, men do always want to trap the next one into raising their kids and doing the housework asap for their 50% custodial time.

Nope. Guys want sex. They can take care of everything else themselves.

Every single time a woman was the one introducing her kids regardless of the timeline, the women in this forum in unison defend her decision.
You read and remember selectively.
Are you saying thats not the case. Start a thread and claim that you are a woman who has been divorced for 6 months and planning to introduce her kids to her boyfriend. The first man that will criticize her will see an army of women defending her.
I am saying that plenty of posters (men and women) will tell her to focus on her kids and not on dating. Again, if you don’t realize this, you read and remember selectively.

So did you post once and got criticized and now that’s all you remember?

No pressure, we introduced me as a friend of their dad’s and slowly I just came around more and more. I met them when they were 9 and 11. I’ve never parented them, just tried to be a supportive, loving adult. Be strong and stable and authentic and you’ll do fine. I wouldn’t do a formal sit down dinner.

TIL people actually go to Fuddruckers.

😂😂😂

Had no idea they were still

+1. When did he actually divorce? Have you seen the decree? Did he blindside the family?
