I think there must be an element of gifting as love language, liking surprises, etc.

I buy what I want all year. So does he. It mystifies me that him buying it is more thoughtful.

Once he bought me a spa certificate for a place I go 2x a year. It was silly. I handed over the certificate. Instead of just paying like I always do from our money.

Now I just make sure I have a few things to open on Christmas, and I do a stocking for myself. Leading up to Christmas any lip balms or toothbrushes or gloves or special chocolate or things like that- I just save to put in my stocking.

Yes. Because DH money is my money. So no point of him buying me a present especially a surprise one. I can buy whatever I want

I have a list of things I want and my husband is a great gift giver so I get some items I’ve put on my list and some surprises. I very rarely surprise my husband and usually he buys his gift for himself and asks me to wrap it because he does not enjoy being surprised and is very particular so it works and everyone is happy.

My spouse lets our little kids buy total garbage for me on Amazon and I get that as a gift. Goes right in the trash. Whatever the 6 yo thought looked cool that morning.

I did this too and I'm a man. My wife appreciated it - I'm not an easy guy to shop for.

Yes. I hate surprises. Total waste of time and money. I buy and he pays for it.

If I have to tell you what I want, what's the point? I could buy it myself. Lol.
So I don't do gifts. I just get them for the kids.

We stopped exchanging like 10 years ago? The only time we get each other gifts is when I see something I think he would like but wouldn't order for himself.
