Presumably any mainstream media sources do cover the awful deeds of the fascist madman and that's what I've observed. Otherwise, looking back to identify reasons a team, person, or entity lost in competition is the most logical thing to do in order to be more prepared in the future.

By traditional measures if not contemporary ones, I have always been a liberal Democrat. But I have come to recognize that unchecked, unmanaged immigration, both legal and illegal, has had a terrible effect on our society. A little immigration is healthy, interesting, and economically useful, especially when immigrants are thoroughly vetted to ensure that they will quickly assimilate and contribute. A lot of immigration, especially when it comes from countries that do not share our western traditions and values, simply dilutes and overwhelms a culture.

I now recognize that I was badly mistaken on the issue of immigration. Democrats need to hold themselves similarly accountable for these errors.

London doesn't care about American immigration policy. It has its own immigration problems, but hasn't woken up to the reality that its open border policy was a bad idea. Instead, it has implemented online speech codes to prevent criticism. Orwell was prescient when he wrote “In the end, we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible." Then again, the UK might focus more on the idea that “We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now.”

Trump actually secured the border during his first term and Biden really screwed up by reversing action. Now, the courts did play a role, but the numbers don’t lie: the border was wide open and people flooded in…and voters not only noticed, but felt it in communities across the country.

I still can’t understand why Dems didn’t read the room and come up with a plan, or at the very least messaging. It’s like they decided to go all in to cater to a subset of voters without checking what they really wanted.

And now we are dealing with a big overreaction by voters and ultimately Trump.

FTR, I’m a Dem whose day job includes left-leaning advocacy (including immigration). Nobody should be surprised by any of this. Sure, the Admin’s efforts to destroy our democracy and the rule of law are shocking, but everything related to immigration could have been anticipated and handled better.

Fast forward to today: the issues have escalated to a new level with the Somalian fraud and the Admin’s response. I think this will shift the conversation to assimilation and self-sufficiency. Voters are watching, and while they don’t like seeing hardworking people tossed out of the country, they absolutely aren’t interested in tolerating fraud (or crime).

No clue why Dems can’t read the room and respond accordingly.
