My oldest is like me, we don't smell, he didn't even smell as a teenager, so he was ok skipping a day at 9 years old. My youngest has been under mandatory showers with soap every day since kindergarten, he sweats and smells.

Same here. Once a week only.

PSA: You may not be able to tell, but other people can. Your child smells.

This is so true. People love to claim that they don’t smell and that their hair doesn’t smell. But when you’re out and about there is absolutely an unwashed smell on some people. Kids and adults.

I'm confused as to why YOU have to fit it in? Your 9 year old can take a quick 5 minutes shower by herself. Turn on water (I guess you can check it if you are worried?), kid wets and shampoos hair, rinses shampoo off body, done. Hair can be toweled dry for 10 seconds and then blow dried in a couple minutes if need be.

Every day, even just a quick rinse and washing of body if hair isn't washed. We aren't living in the 1800s on the prairie.

Once a week?? Do the kids not have PE class or sports on a regular basis? Kids should be active and doing some running and physical activity every day. And then they should bathe or take a quick shower.

I"m not sure why you are trying to make this political. All the TikTok homesteading MAHA moms rarely bathe their children.

Every day since he was a baby. Very very rarely does he skip.

Exceptions include sickness, e.g.

Every day, unless it’s a weekend or holiday where she’s totally at home and not doing anything but relaxing and hanging out with family.

She has eczema, but I don’t think showering is a problem.

It is actually. This is a piece of an article about bathing from Harvard Health who know a whole lot more than you.

Why not bathe a child daily?

Lots of bathing can lead to dry, irritated skin. But also, the skin has natural protective oils, and natural bacteria, that help to keep us healthy and safe — and that can get washed away with daily bathing.

If your preteen looks pretty clean, isn't stinky, isn't covered in bug spray, and hasn't been in a pool or other body of water, it's fine to skip the bath or shower. Really, bathing two or three times a week is fine. In fact, for many kids, even just once or twice a week is fine. You can always do a quick wipe with a wet washcloth to the face, groin area, and any dirty spots.

It’s pretty rare for a normal kid without auntoimmune disease (include psoriasis, eczema) to have any problems with sickness or skin issues from taking a shower daily. C’mon.

Wow. Do better at kindness, and not judging and shaming other people.

I hope this isn’t how you treat your kids and isn’t the example you set for them.

It’s pretty gross not to bathe daily or every other day. The weekly is lazy parenting.
