That's just wasteful. I am just wondering why so many stores left in droves? I get the covid thing but did the mall drive them out by having too high leasing fees? Tysons is far and too much traffic. Fairfax corner leaves a lot to be desired. Not much going on there.
Fairfax Corner is busy as hell- have you been in the past year? Tons of stores and restaurants, new condo building- and I avoid because parking is atrocious.
There are restaurants and a movie theater, apple and rei. That's about it. Not much shopping. Definitely not a one stop shopping destination. I got excited for the IKEA then saw it was just a tiny room where you can look at their stuff online and plan a kitchen. Parking is atrocious.
Fairfax Corner is NOT a mall so obviously not a one stop shop- but I guess you overlooked the other stores like Arhaus, blue mercury, chicos, creative collection, j mclaughlin, king authur, loft, monkees, PR running, rowan, good feet store, the nest egg and warby parker?
Half of those are places you might go one or twice a year at most. My kids would go to Hollister multiple times a week if they could.

Wan't there a lot of controversy when it was in the works, and the development on the other side of Rt. 50?

Most of the stores that left were companies not doing good. Forever 21: Bankrupt. Gap/BR: Closed 500+ locations, Aveda: Closing stores, Hollister: Closed hundreds of stores before recent revitalization
Sorry meant to say Abercrombie not Hollister. The major chains that are still there are doing quite well.
That's not totally true. Apple and CFA also left. I think Starbucks too.
