Subject: 5 years later, are you still working from home?
Been at work full time 5 days a week since March 2020. Teacher here—the only time I wear pajamas is on pajama day 🤣🤣

Remote because I switched jobs. Like others have said I get all my work done and then some. If I were in an office I’d be either working solo at my computer or on teams calls all day. Might as well do that in leggings.

We just got bought though and our new owners want fully remote so they don't have to pay for office space.

There are benefits to having people in the office together. But RTO isn't a scam if managers actually manage people, and much of the RTO effort, in government and outside, is just stealth layoffs.

I have been wfh full time for fifteen years. Would prefer one day a week in an office but I am not complaining.
And yes, occasionally, I stay in my PJs until after noon.

I've only taken fully remote jobs since COVID. I work a lot of hours, but the flexibility to pick a kid up at school is really important to me. This has worked out, except for the federal job which was initially remote and you know how that ended. Found another job that's remote again. There's an office to go into if I want.

I work for a local Fortune 500 and it used to be really old-school before Covid. No one would work from home unless it snowed or I maybe Fridays sometimes.
Then we got MS Teams. Then Covid happened. Then we downsized offices.
Now I go in 3 days a week if I’m unlucky, 2 days a week if I’m lucky. Usually Tu Wed Thurs.
It is so much better.
Anyway…

I have high schoolers. I was hired into a fully remote position 2 years ago but the new administration made us all “return” last spring and I am now working in an office I had never worked in nor would I ever have chosen because the PM commute is 90 minutes. It is dreadful and not made much easier by the kids being in HS except for the older one who can now drive. The younger one still needs a lot of support she can no longer get from me. Our family life and my health are deteriorating but I am the breadwinner (single parent) and can’t afford to quit or take a large pay cut.
TLDR high school isn’t that much of a change, the kids still need a lot of parental involvement. We may be lucky because my older son got recruited for his sport and college application process was simple but boy it would have been much better if I’d have been able to be home more.

Before COVID, I regularly teleworked 1 day a week and was able to do situational telework if needed (but this was not frequent.)
Now I’m in the office every day. We have very limited situational telework, and are discouraged from using it. I use maybe 1 day a month around doctor appointments, etc.
I actually like being in the office, but right now I’m managing a team where half of them are based in another state, and 1 of my local people has an RA. The three I do manage that are theoretically in person don’t sit anywhere near me (we went through a reorg and haven’t physically moved.) So have to come in every day to sit on my computer in virtual meetings.
My sweet spot would be two telework days a week.
