We’ve got a 2026 Y and use self driving regularly. We always keep our hands on the wheel and foot hovering over the break so we can override it asap if needed. It’s handled sketchy situations well. I’m more worried about the “adaptive cruise control” that most cars have now - that feels a lot less regulated. Was in a Volvo with it and it was… not great.

When proven safe, personal driverless autonomous vehicle would be a boon for anyone who cannot, or who can no longer, safely drive themselves - the disabled, the elderly, the incompetent, the drunk, and the drugged.
When that happens, my guess is it won’t make sense to own your own car. You’d call the driverless taxi when needed.
I actually love driving my car. When the day comes that all cars are just driverless machines, I’ll be sad.
