I know he discounted Stevens, but my DD is loving it there. She has had no trouble making friends and there are many social opportunities on campus for those interested in taking advantage of them.


Thank you. His friend says a lot of kids go home on the weekend. Does your daughter find that to be true? DS is somewhat introverted and only had two good friends in high school, so is really hoping for a better social situation in college.

Is he interested in EECS? Going west makes sense for jobs. On the east coast, most of the EECS type jobs are just operational IT which isn’t the same..if he’s good. There is some around Boston and a few around DoD adjacent groups but limited. He can also go west for grad school and then land a job in California.

Assuming you are test optional because WPI was test blind for a while, but is not TO, look at Drexel, Michigan, Purdue, Delaware. Delaware has a lot of hands on project based classes.


Thanks. We will look into Delaware, had not considered it. He probably doesn't have to be test optional at the schools he is interested in. If he does apply to Case Western, he would need to be test optional there.

My son got in to both Ckarkson and WPI. Went Clarkson due to cost. Had a great experience and employed as an engineer.

UVa's Engineering program is small, and much smaller than VT Engineering. Everyone in engineering is a name not a number. UVa overall also is small for a public university. At least worth a look-see.

Thanks for the suggestion of Clarkston - that had not been on our radar and we have family a few hours away.
