No we do not align totally, on some things yes on others no.

Based on my education and job, I will be much more involved in the details and ramifications of policy then my partner- and that is ok with both of us.

In the end, we are both adults with our own life experiences and opinions. We do no base our relationship on something as trivial as politics.

Its the differences that make us stronger, not the similarity - its called being open minded and able to have your partner influence you.

We have never in the history of this country experienced anything like we are currently experiencing. There is nothing that would open my mind to a sexual predator, kleptomaniac, felon, demented lunatic with zero regard for the law.

One, I am quite perplexed by your reply to my post. What is the correlation?
Two, no excusing anything of the current administration. However, you do seem a bit ignorant of the history of our past political leaders, if you think this is a "never before" situation. There have been plenty of questionable men with questionable actions in power in this country.

Please let me know when in the history of this country we have had a convicted felon, a guy who incited an insurrection and had been involved in a child trafficking circle as president before. Not to mention all of the blatant corruption since he took office.

Adding my elderly mother, previously a democrat, is remarried to a proud Republican and was on board until Trump. This has pushed her far left. They don't discuss politics.

Yes. Usually aligned and can discuss respectfully and thoughtfully if we are not. We did vote for different mayoral candidates in Chicago where we live several times. He voted Bernie in the primary and I voted Biden. So I wouldn't say we are identical but both not MAGA.

I suspect there is a lot of smiling and nodding just to keep the peace.

But I also suspect that is true for non-political topics, too.

Yes
A few times a week these days
Yes. We would not be together if we weren't aligned.

Constantly. Mostly aligned but not fully always.

Not anymore. Sadly, we ended up on totally opposite sides of the aisle and the last decade has almost ruined the marriage.

We do discuss politics, stock markets, current events etc, we also make sure to include our teens as I want them to have a working knowledge of the world they are growing in. We don't discuss it all the time but at least once a day.

Of course. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don’t. It’s never an issue. Most intelligent people who have critical thinking skills can understand why others feel differently.

Yes. We talk a lot about politics and current events. We also send each othe TikToks that touch on political issues. Like 85% of the time we’re making fun of/criticizing MAGA and the Orange felon, but there are also some dems we don’t love. I’m a fed so things going on this year have greatly affected our family.

We are generally aligned but I’m a little bit farther left and sometimes we have different perspectives on things because of our life experiences. But our underlying values are the same. I could never be married to someone who thinks it’s okay to have a rapist in the White House or for brown people to be snatched off the street by masked, armed men. Even my Republican family members stopped supporting Trump years ago.

Her AP has never voted for Trump.

PP here. Great! If only she could save all the nonsensical rants for him then!

You think lying to your most intimate partner and harboring contempt makes you the good guy? It totally tracks with the MAGA theme, though.

+1. Imagine hating women this much and being married to one.

I'd bet you anything she outearns him, is better looking, and is all in all a better human. Which is probably why he hates her so much.
