Given the 100+K to 400K cost of college, doesn't it make sense to do so?

Why do you care if they’re smug? That doesn’t change the fact that your kid has ADHD. You will always have to be involved like this, even when your kid is an adult. Are you going to resent these comments for the rest of your life? Get over it. It is what it is.

Why are you all acting like ADHD is this impossible diagnosis? Between meds and routines and effort, this isn’t a huge disability. I say this as someone with ADHD who wasn’t diagnosed/medicated until my 40s. If you are enabling your teens and treating them as incompetent, then sure they’re never going to be competent.

OP here. Actually my kid has severe ADHD. She also has OCD, so I guess maybe that disorder helps her in this situation? Honestly, if I thought she couldn't manage it, I would offer the help, but she seems to be on it. I just thought it was odd that this mom was boasting about how she is so on top of her kid's application process with no involvement from her student apparently.

That mom probably has nothing else going on in her life and so spends all her time micromanaging her kids lives. Just be glad you aren’t her kid and enjoy your day.

My kid has a college only email and I check that occasionally for interview/audition info so we can buy plane tickets and to note if they are requesting more submissions. Kid is a music major. I let him deal with the portals but I do usually stop in his room weekly when he is submitting stuff just to make sure all is well.

Mommy checking portal and kids checking portal are not mutually exclusive. Mommy does her own checking, kids theirs. Some mommys are the type who really really wants to stay on top of EVERYTHING. In that case, it's better let them be. Kids can do their own, independent, checking.

Ask your DC check SPAM folder frequently. I have seen kids who missed email requiring them to act to stay on WL. The email went to spam, the kid was not on WL. He might have gotten in if stayed on WL.

I don't have passwords or track it all. Honestly, if DC wasn't able to track deadlines he'd probably be better off with a year at community college.

I do not check my kids portal. My kid is super organized. If I had a kid who was a disorganized mess I would definitely check.

Same here. I have twins and I don't check anything, nor do I have passwords to check.

Mine is a sophomore but I can totally see myself checking, not because I am a control freak but because he is scatterbrained
