Instead, Republicans were given a narrow majority and that's changed everything. Imagine if Hakeem Jefferies were Speaker instead of Mike Johnson. So frustrating.

I know. 😭 But it is what it is. I guess people really had to be shown what is at stake.

My question is whether hispanic voters will finally follow the breadcrumbs and realize that Republicans hate them and vote accordingly.

Republicans DO have a way out- separate themselves from the MAGA party and denounce trumpism. Reclaim the party!

That’s the problem. All the halfway sane Republicans like Justin Amash have either fled or been drummed out of the present GOP. Only the lunatics remain.

No, they're stuck. The midterms will be beautiful.

Article from the conservative National Review:

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-gops-bad-night-in-red-states-too/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&utm_medium=homepage&utm_campaign=right-rail&utm_content=corner&utm_term=first

"You can scoff that few voters pay attention to state public service commission races or special state legislative elections, but that’s the point. Most years, Republicans win these races in these places fairly easily and no one pays much attention to them.

This undermines the “it’s only blue states remaining blue” argument you’re going to hear this morning. Lots of Democrats are very fired up, and lots of Republicans are just not that motivated, and perhaps not even aware that these special elections are occurring. This isn’t purely a problem of Donald Trump, but if the president’s job approval were well above 50 percent, and people felt good about the economy, would Republicans have let these under-the-radar races slip through their fingers? Is it all that helpful for the GOP’s messaging on economic issues when the president is gushing about his new White House ballroom, the redone bathroom in the Lincoln bedroom, and throwing an ostentatious Great Gatsby-themed party at Mar-a-Lago with burlesque dancers?"

On any particular issue, most Rs agree with the Dem platform.
But then they vote against what they want and instead for R.

Country will have to hit rock bottom for people to change. And we’re on our way.

Congressional Reps don't care about national results, because 90% of districts are safe seats (either D or R). They only care about being primaried from within their own party, which for Republicans requires that they hew as far right as possible. So no, nothing will change.

So, now that we know that association with Trump will make you lose your job, what will the many Republicans Senators up for reelection next year do? What about the entire House of Representatives? We have been assuming that most of these people are cowards, not sociopaths. Will they bail now that they know they are on the losing team?

Of course not, bc these were all blue state/city elections.

If you start seeing these results in WI, MI, PA, NC races, then you’ll see R’s start to back off.

Virginia literally has a Republican governor.

And has been blue in every POTUS election since 2008.

Losing a couple of VA elections isn’t going to affect national R behavior at all. Silly

Democrats have overperformed in virtually every election post-Trump. What are MAGA/Republican voters going to be excited to vote about in 2026? We're rapidly barreling toward that 2026 midterm conversation.

Virginia is a moderate purple state. We have two moderate Democratic senators and will elect moderate Republican governors. Youngkin capitalized on tamping down his MAMAness and exploiting a McAuliffe gaffe to win in 2021.

And then Youngkin showed his true colors and went full-on MAGA which is why Winsome lost.

Dems did well in PA.
