Yep, absolutely true with my high stats kid. Deferred. Waitlisted. Never got in. Wentot Harvard.

Sorry, haven't checked this forum in a while.

1) My family has always been interested in "go big or go home." More specifically, HYPSM or state school. We definitely did not want to ED anywhere because we didn't want to be pigeonholed in one place. Of the HYPSM schools, my kid wanted to focus on well-rounded schools (e.g. not Yale or MIT) that were still strong in STEM. Harvard didn't seem like a great cultural fit (though both ended up being accepted during RD). My older chose Princeton, and my younger applied for the sibling legacy boost.

They did not attend a feeder school, just regular public high schools.

Only one of my kids ended up committing, but has loved their experience there. Studies economics, working at a finance internship this summer.

No, Princeton specifies that you must send an official score report when applying (unless test optional). It is in the instructions.

It was definitely true last admissions cycle. Official test scores have been Princeton’s policy for awhile

That’s awesome, and not to quibble but the second wasn’t totally unhooked if he/she had a sibling there.
