Only if you’re dim and not paying attention to the harm the Republicans (both black and white) are inflicting on the populace. When you’re running on a platform of being scared of transgender kids, that’s not much of a message.

I mean, Sears also thinks my sister shouldn't be allowed to get married and it's not discrimination to fire my sister because she's gay.

Wow that’s pretty early on election night for a flawed Dem candidate. It’s a blowout in VA tonight for the Democratic party. 🎊

No surprise at all considering the size of the federal workforce in VA and the backlash to Trump.

I think Trump isn’t going to be happy tomorrow with the headlines.

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/11/04/us/election-new-jersey-california

Virginia Democrats now hold a 51-49 advantage in the House of Delegates, and party leaders are hoping to flip as many as nine Republican seats. It could be the biggest Democratic election in Virginia since 1989.

I'm honestly curious about the fixation on Trump. When I vote a state election, I vote based on the candidates running and their positions, not on the President. Because state and local affects my life more. When I was in Fairfax County, my taxes skyrocketed every year to the point where it became stupid to stay in retirement. I pay 15K LESS on a house in New England of the SAME VALUE then I do in Fairfax County and get to enjoy a higher quality of life.

The last place I'd ever want to retire is in New England! Of course it costs you less to be there.

For several reasons. First, Virginia is heavily impacted by the craziness in the federal government. Almost everything in Virginia’s economy is tied to the federal government and Trump blew that up. In Virginia, the problems of the federal government are the problems of the state. Second, the overrreach of the current federal government has been such that many states have tried to assert their authority by suing the federal government or otherwise asserting the imperative of the state. Also, I’m not sure where you are in the northeast where your tax rate is less than Virginia. Virginia’s property taxes are relatively low. We hate the car tax, but even when you add all that with the other state taxes, our rates are decent.

Trump is a stealth democrat after all?

Perhaps. He didn’t set foot to campaign for Winsome in VA but he definitely helped Spanberger win the race by being so awful.
