Oh yes, that's true, schools are doing the exact same thing they've always done, but now because of MAGA.

Just shut the hell up. Tech does not offer merit aid of any significant sense. It’s not a second tier liberal arts college.

I am so tired of this website it’s full of amateurs.

My oldest graduated in 2009 from VT Engineering. She was OOS from MD. She got a full scholarship to the Engineering School, all while submitting an essay meant for another school. Yes, this happened.

She also got the Banaker Key from UMD (MD, she sent the correct essay LOL).

I agree with your statement, "I am so tired of this website, it’s full of amateurs."

EA has been around forever any student ready for college, this is a great way to apply. Students who do not are not ready. It's not binding — why would they not do this and know they are already in?

yup! My kid knew by xmas that they had been admitted to a target and their top safety. As our College counselor said "congratulations, you are heading to college next fall" My kid would have been okay if they didn't get another acceptance after that. And it helped take the sting out of the ED1 deferral (and then ultimate rejection in March). They had 2 of their top 4 final choices know before xmas. It's a huge relief if you can get it done.

Good luck y'all!!

You are all so naive! This is VT's marketing shop trying to increase its yield numbers!. VT is notorious (like Chicago and Northeastern for using marketing techniques to climb the USNWR rankings. This has NOTHING to do with you and everything about bolstering VT's stats.

The VT admissions office is a mess.

Because they’re encouraging students to apply early? That’s common sense.

DP. And you just sound idiotic. EA is not binding. No one accepted via EA has to sign any agreement to go. Nice try, though.

This is a small sample:

"Regular Decision is looked at on a space available basis, so we encourage students to apply Early Action. We do not use first semester or mid-year grades in our application process, so students do not need to delay their applications to Virginia Tech."

UMD accepts 95% of entering class from EA, so don't think that's unique.

It's not. If a school has EA, you must do that. There is absolutely no reason to wait. They want kids who are committed, organized and want to attend. Waiting until RD demonstrates you are none of those. So yes, they select 90-95%+ from ED and EA at many schools. Not a shock, everyone can do EA so get organized and do it
