My relatives in India all call them leggins. I have never seen them write it but they do not use the g and if I had to guess, they don’t know there is a g in the word. (Not knocking that. Words change like that across countries all the time.)

I thought these fell by the wayside 3-4 years ago. I haven’t seen any in the wild in awhile.
