Hopefully will be paid back when the shutdown is over, but there are no guarantees. We are required to work and still have to get dressed, pay for gas, eat food etc. For my last 15 years working in government, I have never missed a paycheck. Even, with the last shutdown a few years ago, I was being paid during the shutdown. I will be tapping into my savings soon, and luckily I have some, but other co-workers at work seem to be really worried how much longer they can survive without being paid.

OK. What does any of this have to do with business class airfare?

Wait a few months and I think those same tickets will be $5k+.

Commando or thong tonight?

Same! But do agree with OPs main point about booking early. We’re paying a little over 3k total for a family of four for nonstop to Rome next Spring. That’s in “the poors” class though. I booked right when the tickets came out and just checked and the tickets are now over double what we paid.

Sometimes they are relatively cheaper again at the last minute, at least in economy. We aren't great planners, so booked just one month before for an August 2025 trip to Italy and prices were relatively low, at least compared to the prior year.

I'm sorry there are so many jerks in this thread, OP. I bet it's just one miserable person. This is the travel board. You posted about a good deal on travel. I don't know why everyone is jumping down your throat.

Yawn. Ew you fly commercial? Nice try, PJ or GTFO.

Lol. Today is pay day and I just paid my bills. I have $66 to last for the next two weeks. #winning

+1 yes, that's very nice OP. You MUST not be a dual or even single fed, or contractor household. Way to be completely obtuse in this moment. Most of us aren't going to be taking a vacation to Europe next summer.

Indeed. No threads allowed about spending money today.
