Or they've seen that career advancement is unlikely or not tied to effort, and companies will toss you aside no matter how much of your personal life you gave up.

Honestly good for them.

Much of this is true about the Gen Z'ers that I work with. I'd also like ot note that they ask for promotions about every 6 months.

I’ll bite, waiting to be told what to do. The work was often done very well but my god, independent thinking or taking initiative was so rare.

In my line of work traditional 9-5 doesn’t exist, you work until it’s done and when needed in addition to the 9-5. Try getting a millennial to come in on the weekend for doc review. Not happening.

The millennials in my office are managers with kids, for the most part.
