Every time there's a thread about Silver Spring, he shows up to tell us about how glorious Arlington and McLean are. It's really sad. My guess is that he couldn't handle the diversity of this area, moved to NoVA to be around more white people, and now feels the need to justify his decision to pay an exorbitant premium to be around more white people. Dude, just move on. We're happy here in Silver Spring, and I hope you're happy in your new place (and I mean that sincerely).
Anonymous wrote:Your comparing the most desirable parts of Falls Church to Woodside. Compare home sale prices in places like north bethesda or rockville potomac and per square foot it’s often only like 20 percent more or less per square foot. Woodside is also very close to CC and Bethesda, so the amenities of CC, Bethesda and Kensington are often as close as the amenities of pike and rose and park potomac are to 20854 neighborhoods like copenhaver

Nah, it’s a great area and a good price for Moco. What I don’t get is how much people overpay for the W school districts. Way overpriced for what you get, and in no way competitive any longer with nicer areas around the country. But keep living in your fantasy.
Spoken like a pleb in a non-W MoCo school district. Houses west of Rockville Pike in Rockville/Potomac area in even the modest UMC areas are American dream type houses and W schools are elite. My neighbors here in Wootton cluster are construction executives and doctors, whereas people in most Silver Spring neighborhoods are like, teachers, nurses and accountants.
What awful, awful people!!

Idiot PP should be ashamed of themself.
Never said they were awful people. They just don’t make much money, and that’s OK.
Also I said most Silver Spring neighborhoods… I suppose Woodside is a little different. I just can’t for the life of me understand why folks with kids in that neighborhood wouldn’t just buy in a W school district, unless they send their kids to private, then MAYBE I get it. But still, being so close to sketchy DTSS as opposed to beautiful wooded neighborhoods within a short drive to areas such as Park Potomac and Pike & Rose is… curious.

They’re lovely neighborhoods no question, but they’re way more expensive than SS.

We live in Woodside Park because we love it here. It's that simple.

Anonymous wrote:I don't know, I think real estate prices in the Woodside area are quite high, and the primary reason they're lower than North Arlington is the qualiy of the schools, not the quality of the area. There are six houses for sale in the the Woodside area right now according to zillow and they range from the high 900s to around 1.4 million. If you factor in a 20 percent or so discount for being zoned to einstein these are not far off from North Arlington and Falls Church prices.

Yes, the people who value safety andeconomic development. How’s that Georgia Avenue pedestrian tunnel for the Forest Glen Metro coming along? How’s the revitalization of Woodside retail on Georgia Avenue? Oh, I forgot, neither Metro or business owners want to invest any money in that area. Sorry. Have fun commuting to DC and VA for work because no one wants to invest any money or build any infrastructure in your county.
How’s that Purple Line coming along? What are the odds it actually is running by 2030?![]()
I take metro and get downtown to my job in under 30 minutes. All my NoVa friends work in DC and commute to DC also, and have far worse commutes. Sadly, there's no more economic development in NoVA either, with Amazon cutting its workforce and GDP growth stalled (https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1297689.page). And between Wheaton and DTSS, I can take care of all of my retail shopping with a 10-minute drive. So, I appreciate the concern, but we're doing just fine over here.
