Also, he didn’t recognize the names despite being fairly well connected in the dad coach community from years of basketball and other sports. He didn’t see any players we know from recent middle school FCYBL teams, even the top talented players from division one teams.
Last year, we heard a rumor (that turned out to be true) that the basketball coach recruited players because several transferred into the school somehow.
Our DS is in middle school and looks forward to playing in high school. But despite years of playing AAU at a higher level and FCYBL, DH has doubts about him making the team due to his size (projected to be 6’ but slow start) and coach favoritism (and recruiting?)
Post the link to the roster or your entire post is BS

Kids quitting makes sense if told they'll just be bench players or worse, not dress

Our HS doesn’t have a roster yet because they’re not done with try-outs. Kids from football couldn’t make the scheduled tryouts so they are holding a “special” tryout this week. I think the assumption is that these are kids who are wired to be selected anyway. The main cuts have already been made.
I think the football players should have to actually compete at tryouts like everyone else. The tryouts are really hard at our kid's school.

Anonymous wrote:Already had one player quit on my kid's varsity team. Same happened last year. Why would you go to so much trouble to try out then quit? Not a starter, so maybe that's the issue.
