Look at Templeton, red line just a few stops to Gallery Place. Lower cost than everything else too. It’s rigorous without the grind; the classes are super interesting especially the humanities ones, the kids are nice, the teachers seem like they like their jobs and are happy to be there (as noted by my kid). Underrated and under the radar option.

Very competitive for admissions. Definitely worth applying to, but maybe it’s easier to get into Burke.

Huh. Our k-8 sends lots of kids to Field and Burke. Never heard Field referred to as competitive for admissions.

Field's WL didnt move at all last year. We kept waiting and waiting along with several other families. It might not be as competitive as some others but there is no 'safety' school.

The last two years have been very different at Field. The entire eighth grade now stays for the upper school. Apparently applications are way up too and last spring a thread here on DCUM revealed the waitlist didn’t move. Probably easier to get in for 6th than 9th.

Interesting. Sounds like they've been doing a good job filtering out the "safety school" people.

+1 Can confirm this.

Applications are way up at almost all area private schools. Dissatisfaction with area publics is driving the trend.

Field's easier to get into than Burke but costs an extra $5-10k. I don't think either is going to look kindly at an application perceived to be a "safety".

Not any more...

Yes but its becoming more competitive to get in. They had to turn down a large amount of kids last year, its becoming more known/popular.
