We went to Balduccis first and I went to eyeball the beef and prices.
Was a little put off by the food smell in Organic Butcher. I guess it's garlicky sausage or something.
I guess their core clientele know what they want, not browsers. We got a strip steak. Will see if it's better.
I noticed the boneless rib eye looked better trimmed at Balduccis and was $38 a pound, not $46 as at Organic but maybe it tastes better ?
You really can’t compare to Balduccis…Balduccis is just Safeway with prices marked up. The quality of meat is no better than what you get at your local Safeway.
Someone said they had same supplier?

Also I requested 1-1.5 inch thick boneless rib eyes and the rib eyes they gave me were over 2” thick (they wrapped them up and handed them to me so I didn’t get a chance to see them until home). When I am paying those prices, I should get what I asked for.
Order and pay online in advance, which both ensures you get what you want and are in and out quickly.
In my experience they sometimes give you more than what you ordered, at least by weight. That may have happened to you, even if you didn't value the thicker cut.

I think filet mignon is bland. DH likes it. Do they have real Chateaubriand? Not tied together "tenderloin"?
