I absolutely dislike the idea of a corset more than a skimpy skirt. To me it’s just too grown up. However - I’m up against four other parents who are all for and okay with the costume. They think it’s fine.
The girls are all 15.
Tell me if I am being unreasonable. I’m willing to see things from a different point of view. It is only one night after all.

+1 Lacks creativity of any sort. What character are they exactly?Anonymous wrote:This is a stupid idea. It doesn’t even look like a costume. People will keep asking them, what are you?

I was a teen who changed clothes in the mall bathroom from what my mom knew I had on and this was in the Y2K era I had a thong showing in class for boys to think I was sexy. I cringe looking back but I’m trying to raise my daughter to not do these things.
Now I’m at this spot over a costume and was really questioning am I overreacting or are these corset ones ok to wear as a child, a teen.
You did what you wanted and escaped a lecture. Presumably you felt good about your looks while wearing your silly underwear.
Letting your daughter do this (without hiding from you) but with a side of feminist commentary, is progress of a sort.
The sneakers do destroy the hotness. Also girls with crowns aren't necessarily what boys are interested in. I think it's a dumbed down enough costume.

If you give in make sure you supervise closely because it could get ugly.
In my Bethesda neighborhood, some teens go ToT, and some teens hand out candy. Then they go to parties. My 15 year old is going ToT with her friend. They have plans for a horror movie watch party with other friends afterwards.

Hope for a cold night.
Include a feather boa or cape to increase coverage.
+1 These girls don't look sexed up because they don't have bosoms. I would have looked like a $3 hooker in any of these outfits in high school because I had big boobs and was hourglassy. It's not fair but it's reality - straight figured girls can wear much more risque outfits without consequences.
Without consequences? What does that mean?
Catcalling, being assumed to be older by adult men and having to deal with the awkwardness that comes from being hit on by them when you're barely old enough to flirt, repercussions at school for dress code violations when other girls are wearing identical clothes but filling them out differently, the list goes on.
