Can you ask the TJ counselor how many acceptances they got last year? that person will have the most helpful info. Is your student taking the hardest classes available across the board and doing well?
I find her information to be not altogether truthful.

Yeah I meant no college supplemental essays. Any idea on GPA cutoff for EA from TJ?
If you are really a parent of a student at this school, your child has access to this data.
Even before senior year?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Look at the scatterplot in Naviance. Note that those GPAs are for end of senior year. So adjust accordingly.
Really? So it's wrong data? So dumb.

As for AO’s not being truthful, they can’t tell the whole truth. I worked in law school admissions (different beast I know) and there were tons of questions like this we could not answer directly or completely honestly, especially back in the days of AA post Grutter decision.
People claimed there was a GPA over which you get accepted and the AOs are lying when they say they don't just look at GPAs. Someone posted that their kid defies this "rule." So DCUM is wrong again.
Even if there is no rule or cutoff, trends can still be observed and can inform the application process for applicants.
Would your TJ student propose that a trend can be based on a handful if unverified pieces posts on an anonymous message board? No, they'd get an F if they tried to do that. We have Naviance and the counseling office for verified information.

I don’t even understand what you’re saying but are you relying on a dcurban poster’s story as proof that a prior belief is incorrect?
The law school person came in here and didn't seem to understand what the thread was about.

NP. Same Q.
- what SAT score is needed for admission to UVA?
Are all TJ parents this helpless?
I guess due to the change in admissions priorities …
