BC has one of the best ratings from the ADL. I think people are more spiritual, kind and open there than most colleges.

My nephew started this fall and really likes it. Has gone to Hillel on Friday nights. My sister sent me a stat I almodt couldn’t believe. BC has more Jewish undergrads than Harvard!

The issue of safety (however defined) is separate from whether there is vibrant Jewish life of the kind that your child would want to participate in. Not all kids will want to do Hillel etc, but if it’s a small Jewish population, that may be the only way to meet other Jews.

There are crosses and religious iconography all over campus. My Episcopalian child found it too much.

That may be true, but friendships are different than romantic relationships. I guess I think of college as a place that many people meet their future spouses or even have their first serious relationship. I know that's not the point of college, but it's a nice side benefit, IMO. So, my question would be - in such a Catholic school, would my non-Catholic kid be someone that most people would be open to dating (assuming my kid doesn't care about the religion themselves)? If many people would want to stick with someone Catholic or only consider them if they convert, I would choose another school.

PP is responsibly using the term to discuss the safety of her Jewish kid at college campuses in the College and University discussion. It's sad that the concern for the safety of Jewish students makes you so angry.

I was at BC in the 80s. At one point 4 of my roomates were Jewish. Just happened that way not because they felt they wanted to join together. No issues and Chestnut Hill and Newton are heavily Jewish so there are communities off campus. BC has always had a small but significant Jewish population.

The Catholic Universities are among the best private universities for Jewish students.

This. Have you heard of any anti-semitic provocations at schools like Notre Dame, Georgetown, BC, Villanova, or anywhere else? Catholic schools are very accepting and do not tolerate hate.

A very close, Jewish HS friend attended BC, met her Jewish boyfriend there, spent time with a diverse group.

I honestly think it is going to be absolutely fine. I understand the caution given the current climate, however.
