Mid 60s married couple, wife was SAHM and husband was single earner now retired for 10+ years. (Net worth was $4M and change at retirement.) Adult children long fully "launched" with children of their own.

Now this is refreshing! A couple much closer to the American average than most of the posters on here.

I’ve got about $3M at 51, half in real estate equity, half in retirement and brokerage accounts. I’ll have a smallish pension at retirement but no debt (mortgage was paid off last year). My goal for my retirement number is $2M in brokerage and retirement accounts. I’ve never been a big earner so I can live off less than most people on DCUM.

Over $2.5million without counting our house (maybe around 800K in home equity). We have another 200K in 529 for our only child, but we don't count that in our networth. We are 50/51 and both public interest lawyers. One of us will have a 60K a year pension at 57. Hopefully will retire then.

I am proud of our number. We both had law school debt, I had undergrad debt. My parents never made more than 35K a year. No family support other than love.

Single person here, age 47:
1 million. It was reached making minimum wage since age 18. Second million should come much faster now that I know what to avoid and how to grow it.
My 18-year old is about to get his first paycheck. Straight to Roth it goes.

Probably 3-3.5 mil. Early 40s. I think is pretty good considering DH is ex military- now a Fed, and I didn't work for several years.

I’m 41, DH is 45. No family money — both public school products who went to good colleges and graduate schools on a combination of loans, work-study, some minimal parental help, and scholarships.

We currently hold about $6M in real estate, which includes our primary and secondary residences. We bought our first row house in 2010 and stretched to get into that. Have made some good (candidly lucky) RE investments along the way and rolled equity into our next purchases. Now in what we consider to be our forever home, at least until our kids are out of the house, which is a while away.

We have about $4M invested across accounts, but that also includes our kids 529s so I’m not sure if that really counts as an asset.

Our investments are low relative to our RE holdings but we are ok with that. Just entering the times in our careers where comp is really taking off (hopefully).
