No, they aren't. They are crepuscular, meaning they are programmed to be most active during dawn and dusk.

+1 My cat yowls out if any of us close our bedroom doors. If our teenager closes his door, he gets an earful. She likes to prowl around and check on everyone.

Agree with the "cats are *not* nocturnal" voices. They are crepuscular - dawn and dusk, but not night.

My cat sleeps with me at night. During her dawn/dusk zoomies, I had to ignore her. It was rough - you need to be as still and as quiet as a rock.

Eventually, they WILL learn that this isn't fun. She still gets regular play time with me, but has learned how to self-play with her toys to get additional energy out.

Absolutely not. Cats should be kept inside. They are very destructive when left outside plus their lifespan is a lot shorter if they are outdoor cats.

Cats are not nocturnal. They are crepuscular. And that doesn't mean that they can't occupy themselves while awake.

I've had cats my whole life and have three now.

You just have to ignore it. Look up extinction burst and be ready. You cannot give an inch.

I have 3 cats and have had cats my entire adult life. Do not get up to feed her. That just teaches her that if she meows ,you'll do what she wants.

I leave food out for my cats all the time. They eat when they want as much as they want. I leave plenty of toys out for them to play. And then if they cry at night, I ignore, ignore, ignore.

I have four cats and they all sleep at night, and are quiet.
