So Trump has no reason to go into Portland but he’s going just to try and stir up trouble. He’s hoping to get the liberals out there protesting. What they should do is stay home and empty out the streets.

Been all these place and live in DC. Mississippi scares the s!@# out of me and I'm a good looking, educated affluent white woman who can put on the Southern (accent, style, mannerisms) at will. I still feel unsafe. From the cops, the crazy land-rich otherwise poor rednecks, and the drinking and driving and ignorance. I also have family there so go more often than I'd like. Sheeit, a gun could randomly go off and a kill a person in that land of nothin'-to'do.

well, I wouldn't.
At least OR and IL have other cities that's great for raising a family. There are neighborhoods in Chicago that are considered to be the nicest place to live. Arlington Heights in Chicago is #12 safest place in the country, and #56 best place to live in this country. There are zero areas in MS that's considered safe or best place to live.
I would never raise my kids in MS, nor would I ever live there being in a biracial family.

With regard to crime in Portland - Compared to January through June 2024, overall violent crime in Portland fell by 17 percent. Aggravated assaults dropped by 18 percent, robberies declined by 10 percent, and sexual assault reports were down 12 percent. Notably, homicides fell from 35 incidents to 17 incidents – a reduction of 51 percent – representing the largest homicide decrease of any major city in the report.
So Trump has no reason to go into Portland but he’s going just to try and stir up trouble. He’s hoping to get the liberals out there protesting. What they should do is stay home and empty out the streets.
Sadly, most of the cities that make those states dangerous have been run by Democrats for decades.
Yep. If you break it down by city you will see that in red states AND blue states, the cities with the highest crime rates are overwhelmingly run by democrats and have been for some time.
It can’t be broken down by city. You’re ignoring the rest of the state that might also have problems with violence, guns, break ins, drugs.
Blue states have more money than states like Mississippi where corruption in government is out of control. Mississippi has a dozen dangerous small cities, not just Jackson. It’s up to the governor of Mississippi to fix the problems.
I'd take my chances any day of the week in Mississippi over Portland, Chicago, NYC, etc.
